The weekend is here and it’s time to get out of the house. The weather report shows temperatures in the high 60’s with a 20% chance of rain. Personally I’d like to see a lot more rain. We certainly need it! As usual, there are many Long Beach events that take place both indoors and outdoors. So let’s get started!
Don’t forget this Sunday is Mother’s Day! There’s plenty of things going on in Long Beach that involves mothers. But remember the most important is spending quality time with those we love.
Long Beach Events for May 6, 2016
On May 6th, here’s some events to get your weekend started right.
How does a Pulitzer Price, Tony-nominated play sound? “A Walk in the Park” is playing at the International City Theatre. Any performance from May 5th through the 8th is only $79 for two tickets when you use their coupon code.
If not a Pulitizer, how about Jules Verne? “Around the World in 80 Days” continues it run at the Long Beach Playhouse.
Here’s a snippet!
On May 7th, enjoy your Saturday in any number of ways.
Love mammals? Want to run away, join the circus and train animals? Aquarium of the Pacific is having a “Job Shadow Class” in which you’ll learn how a Mammalogist works with our fellow mammals.
Did you attend Bike Fest in March? There’s another one! Bike Fest returns on May 7th! The City of Long Beach shuts down certain streets and the only way you can access them is either on your bike, skateboard, roller skates or on foot. This is a great chance for you to get out, visit some local businesses and get some exercise. Expect street closures along Linden, between 1st and Broadway.
Kathleen Madigan will be at the Carpenter’s Performing Arts center. Kathleen has appeared on multiple HBO Comedy Central Specials and definitely know her way around a joke. If you need a good laugh (and who doesn’t), then attend this event.
On May 8th, there’s many events in Long Beach to take your mother to and some of those include alcohol. Because there are so many wonderful mothers out there, make sure to make reservations before going anywhere.
Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Eat some great food, get your drink on, and then take a tour of the museum afterwards.
Enjoy views of the Harbor at Parker’s Lighthouse Mother’s Day Brunch. Brunch is served from 9 am until 2 p.m. (there’s also dinner).
For a bit of a twist, the Japanese Gardens are having their Mother’s Day Brunch starting at 9:30. Their website says to make reservations by May 3rd to make sure you call ahead before heading over.
Make the most of your weekend and spend it with those you care about. Have fun!
