Long Beach Events for 5-13-2016

The weather man says we’re going to be in the low-70’s throughout the weekend with a 10% chance of rain.  This means you can’t use the weather as an excuse to stay home!  As usual, there are many Long Beach Events happening this weekend.  Here’s our weekly listing of events you might be interested in.

Long Beach Events for 5-13-2016

West Coast BBQ Classic – Do you like BBQ?  Do you like the Queen Mary?  Then why not merge the two together and have yourself a finger-lickin’-good time.  Grill Masters from around the country will descend upon our fair city and for sure will not leave it the same way they found it.  In case you were wondering, this event is sanctioned by the KCBS.  So, it’s legit.  Saturday, May 14th.

Here’s a little something to get you in the mood for some BBQ.  A little Nat King Cole.

Junior Biologist: Birds and Reptiles – May14th from 9:30 to 11:30, you can turn your ball of energy into a Junior Biologist for a few hours.  Play around with Polly and Big Bird or squeal with delight at the crawling reptiles while trying to learn biology stuff.  It is interactive so make sure to bring plenty of squeals.

Behold!  The Monolith! – DiPizzas on PCH is having Behold!  The Monolith! playing at their location May 14th (Saturday) starting at 10 p.m.  Truth be told, I just like writing Behold!  Makes me want to watch Charleton Heston in “Moses”.  If you’re thinking “Behold! I may be interested in this”, here’s a sample of their music.

East Village Long Beach Walking Tour – Do you like the East Village in Long Beach?  Do you like walking?  Then why not combine the two and join the Long Beach Heritage Society on their walking tour of the … anyone? anyone? … East Village.  Tickets are $10 and the tour starts Saturday at 10 a.m.  It’s a mile and a half of grueling “put one foot in front of the other”.
